Laramie, WY – The Wyoming Cowboys came into their game Wednesday night against the Phoenix of Wisconsin – Green Bay on a three game win streak and looking to get above .500 for the first time since the first game this season. After the game the Cowboys proved one thing, they are better than teams with a win or two but they cannot beat teams that have won more than a game or two.
The Cowboys were defeated by the Phoenix 68-62. The win improves the Phoenix record to 6-7 on the season and 1-1 in the Horizon league while dropping the Cowboys to 6-7 and begging the question once again, how much longer will Wyoming head coach Heath Schroyer keep his job?
The Cowboys who were shooting about 50% from the field for much of the game cooled off late and ended up shooting just over 38% for the game, while the Phoenix shot 48% from the field and 43.5% from beyond the arc.
The shooting was the difference in the game as Wyoming took a 30-25 lead into the half but cold shooting in the second half killed the Cowboys.
In the second half the Phoenix shot 68.4% from the field to Wyoming’s 27.3% and on the scoreboard that was the difference as Wisconsin – Green Bay scored 43 points in the 2nd half.
Rahmon Fletcher’s 21 points led the Phoenix in scoring.
Wyoming will be back in action at the AA December 28th when they host Kennesaw State.
