On Thursday afternoon the Wyoming Cowboys tried to fly out of Denver International Airport but mother nature and traffic did not cooperate. Dangerous road conditions on I-25 caused several accidents and several vehicles to slide off the road. This caused a huge delay on the roads and the Cowboys missed their scheduled flight and there were no other later flights available.
So the team headed back to Laramie and made it back home safe to Laramie despite the rough conditions. The Cowboys were scheduled to play a game against Houston Baptist at 1pm MST on December 31st. The game may be made up later in 2011 but nothing is set for now.
Would have been nice if a big donor would have let the team borrow their Lear Jet. Perhaps that would violate some type of NCAA rules but it would have been a way to travel in style and skip the Denver airport.
So Wyoming will take their 7-7 record with them into 2011 and still remain winless on the road. First test of the New Year will be a trip to Fort Collins to take on the much improved Colorado State Rams on January 4th. Hopefully the extra days rest can help Adam Waddell get ready to play some minutes down the stretch. The center has missed the last two weeks with continued ankle issues.
