Wyoming (3-5) is off their biggest win of the year, a 30 point blowout of Indiana State last Saturday. Winning big at home is one thing but can they earn their first road win against the Anteaters of UC Ivrine(4-4_? First off I'm excited that we're playing a team called the Anteaters. Only thing better would be to face the Banana Slugs of UC Santa Cruz.
When comparing stats it seems like Wyoming has the slight edge in most categories. The Anteaters are favored by three points which mainly seems like the benefit of home court advantage. Wyoming has struggled on the road so not a huge deal with the odds. The Cowboys have a long stretch of home games starting next week so getting this win is vital. This will be the first time that these two programs have ever met.
The key to stopping Irvine comes down to shutting down Senior PG Darren Moore who leads the team with 18ppg and 6.8rpg. On the year Moore is shooting 57% from the field and accounts for a quarter of the teams offense. Patrick Rembert and his 13 points is the only other player in double digits for the Anteaters. Russell Turner is in his first year as a head coach.
Turns out the Desmar Jackson experiment at PG is over and JayDee Lusterwill be the starter from here on out. Jackson will move back to the wing where his scoring should increase when playing off the ball. This arrangement worked out well in the win over Indiana State. So what exactly does the lineup look like now?
PG: JayDee Luster
SG: Desmar Jackson
SF: Francisco Cruz
PF: Amath M'Baye
