Daniel Sullivan a kicker from Jackson HS in Washington State verbally committed to Wyoming three days after visiting Laramie. Sullivan was ranked the #7 kicker in the nation by Kohls Kicking Rating System. Here is their analysis of Sullivan:
Daniel attended training camp in WA, he then attended the Western Showcase Camp and showed that he is a D1 kicker, hits one of the cleanest most pure FG of anyone in the 2011 class, KO's get great hang-time and should be able to contribute early in college, very impressive coordination
Sullivan is ranked ahead of athletes that committed to AQ schools such as Florida, Kansas, Duke and Rutgers. Expect Sullivan to take over field goal kicking duties from the minute he steps on campus. With the loss of Ian Watts to academic issues the Pokes were left with an opening and Sullivan is here to fill that spot.
The Seattle Times confirmed that Sullivan has committed to Wyoming and Sullivan really enjoyed his visit.
"It was the only place I took an official visit to," Sullivan said. "It was just a really laid-back community. I kind of like small-town places, because I'm from Norway and I love going there every summer. The coaches were awesome. The players were awesome."
It will be interesting to see if Sullivan or Oliver Schober handle kick off duties in the Fall. Schober did kick offs in 2010 based on his soccer background in Germany. Watts had an accurate but not a high powered leg so Sullivan will be much more competitive and be able to produce a high percentage of touchbacks.
Wyoming now has 22 verbal commitments for the 2011 class with just two weeks until National Signing Day. Look for the Pokes to go after offensive and defensive linemen with their remaining scholarships and perhaps a wide receiver.
Here is the recruiting video that Sullivan put out this summer. One of the better produced videos that I've seen.
