Wyoming looks to win on the road at Air Force

The Wyoming Cowboys (8-10, 1-3) will aim for their first road win of the year against an improved Air Force Falcon (10-7, 1-3) squad.  The impressive thing for AF is that they are healthy this year and have already equaled their win total from last year.  Earlier they beat Utah to start their conference schedule followed by close losses to the top MWC teams: SDSU, BYU and UNLV.

Wyoming has struggled mightily on the road this season and don't expect this game to be an easy one.  One major issue for the Cowboy defense has guarding the perimeter with their zone defense.  They've been lit up from behind the arc during the conference schedule.  The Falcons aren't a strong three point shooting team except for Tom Fow who has 40 treys on the year.

These two teams met last year in the pigtail game of the MWC Tournament.  The Falcons won the tourney game and the season series 2-1 despite using a roster with no experience due to a huge rash of injuries.  The team is healthy and they run a well disciplined, controlled game.  What else would you expect from a military academy team?  Michael Lyons, Tom and Taylor Broekhuis all average double digits in scoring.  The Falcons boast an RPI of 121 compared to 289 for Wyoming.

The last two games have seen the Cowboys deal with injuries to Djibril Thiam and JayDee Luster.  A week of rest should help their ailments and both should be in the starting lineup.  This should help Desmar Jackson's scoring with Luster running the point. If Wyoming doesn't win this game in Colorado Springs they may not a road game the rest of the season.
