The bye week gave the Wyoming coaching staff a chance to hit the recruiting trail during the season and looks like it paid off quickly.
The Cowboys got some good news on Monday when they gained a new member of the 2012 recruiting class. OL Jacob English from Beloit HS in Beloit, KS verbally committed to the Pokes. English is 6-6 260lbs and rated two stars by Rivals and the ninth best player in Kansas. He visited Laramie this summer for camp and earned his offer there. His high school roster has English listed as 6-5 274lbs.
English has a big frame and can add weight when he enters school. In high school he is still a competitive wrestler and finished fifth in the state last year. He reminds me of Justin Dire because he is a linemen is mobile and able to get out and block on the second level easily and will be a great fit for the spread offense. The Cowboys are now sitting at three verbal commitments for the 2012 class.
WR/DB Eric Nzeocha from Germany was the first commit and then former Wyoming signee RB Evan Williams will also return to Laramie. Williams originally signed with Wyoming in 2010 but didn't qualify academically. He then went to Iowa Western CC where he is in his second year. Williams used his redshirt last year and will have three years of eligibility when he enrolls in Wyoming this winter.
In five games for Iowa Western this year Williams has 19 carries for 113 yards and one touchdown. He is averaging 5.6 yards per carry and also has one catch for four yards. Williams is one of five running backs on the team that has at least 100 yards this year for Iowa Western.
