Cowgirls Set to Host Lady Buffaloes Thursday Night in Third Round of WNIT

Laramie, WY – With an expected crowd of 8000 to 10,000 at the Arena Auditorium Thursday night, the Wyoming Cowgirls will welcome the Lady Buffaloes of Colorado in the third round game of the WNIT. The Cowgirls will host their third straight game of the WNIT and are coming off a hard fought 75-71 victory against the Oklahoma State Cowgirls Monday night in Laramie.

With an overall record of 24-8 on the season Wyoming enters the game against Colorado shooting a league leading .432 (747-1730) from the field, plus 232-657 (.353) from beyond the arc and 411-584 (.704) from the charity stripe.

Seniors Aubrey Vandiver and Hillary Carlson will lead the Cowgirls against the Lady Buffs. Vandiver is averaging a team leading 19.1 points and 9.2 rebounds, while Carlson is adding 17.0 points and 7.1 boards per contest.

Colorado is currently 17-15 overall and finished the Big 12 Conference 6-10. CU is led by Brittany Spears who is leading the way with 18.5 points and 8.2 rebounds. She is followed by Chucky Jeffery who is adding 13.5 points and 8.2 boards per contest. They welcome back three starters and eight letter winners to a team that went 13-17 overall and 3-13 in the Big 12 Conference a year ago.

The last time the two teams met was Dec. 5, 2007. Colorado defeated Wyoming 69-55 in Boulder.

Colorado is leading the overall series with Wyoming 33-11, with the 45th game to be played Thursday night. Tipoff for the game is set for 7:00 p.m. mountain time.
