Wyoming added a late addition to the 2011 recruiting class with Juco linemen Shayne Kelley out of Ventura CC. Kelley originally verbally committed to South Alabama but never signed a letter of intent. Kelley is 6-4 310lb and is a great addition to the Pokes offensive line.
There is an interesting recruiting rivalry developing between Wyoming and South Alabama. Last year QB CJ Bennett committed to Wyoming then ended up heading to South Alabama which was closer to his home in Tampa. Now the Cowboys nab a recruit from the Jaguars who are transitioning to FCS and will join the Sunbelt in 2013.
Wyoming has struggled this spring with injuries on the o-line with Justin DiRe having to give up football due to a medical condition. The Cowboys have depth at nearly every position except with offensive linemen. Kelley has three years of eligibility remaining.
Wyoming now has reached the maximum of 25 scholarship athletes per recruiting class.
