Reading Roundup: Crazy Day In The Mountain West

BOISE ID - SEPTEMBER 25: I can't see you.....

Well the first day of the Mountain West Media Day is all wrapped up and things got crazier as the day went on.  What started as a peaceful day turned into internet hysteria.  Never a dull moment here with the Mountain West I guess.

The first big shock came out in the afternoon when it turns out Boise State is not allowed to wear their all blue uniforms for home conference games

The prohibition applies only to Boise State and was part of the school’s agreement to join the league.

"I thought it was ridiculous," Petersen said of his reaction. "… That’s our colors. That’s who we are. That’s who our fans have wanted us to be since I’ve been at Boise State. That’s what it’s been through and through."

Said commissioner Craig Thompson: "What we had heard from our coaches is ‘a competitive advantage.’ It’s as simple as that."

This created countless grumblings from Boise fans which can you fully enjoy.  The Broncos can still wear all blues for their non-conference games.  With the bazillion different Pro Combat uniforms that Nike busts out every year for Boise they should have no problem finding the right uniform to wear on a Saturday.

They're back......................

Chooooo Choooo!!!!  The rumor that will never die is back yet again.  Apparently after denying Utah State entry into the Mountain West a dozen times the Aggies are still trying.  Or at least their rumor spreaders have infiltrated Texas to spread the good news.

Bobcat Report a Texas State site that broke the news on the WAC adding UT-Arlington says: they have learned that Utah State will be joining the Mountain West in the next 15 days.  The supposed reasoning is that Boise wants a travel partner and having an eleven team conference is some how a good thing.

Craig Thompson denied the report on Tuesday which he would have done no matter what.  Apparently the announcement wouldn't be made till after the WAC media days which happen July 27th and 28th.  Please say it ain't so......
