Wyoming After Buff Pledge DB Ma'ne Manaea (Lakes HS)
Looks like Chris Tormey is is wasting no time in recruiting the state of Washington. WR/DB Ma'ne Manaea from Lakes HS in Lakewood, WA originally committed to Colorado in September. Now the Buffs are asking him to greyshirt in the fall and that has opened up things for Manaea. A greyshirt means he would enroll at CU in the fall, pay his own way and take less then 12 credits. It can be a way for schools to get around the 25 scholarship limit by then signing at a later date. Wyoming has wasted no time in offering the two way star once this occurred.
"I am open to whatever is in my best interest and whatever opportunities there might be. But that does not change the verbal commitment to Colorado," he added. "The door is open right now a little bit as we talk things through."
Now Manaea is not calling schools. But he is speaking to those that have called him. Idaho is hot on his trail as is Wyoming. Both have offered.
Listed at 5-11 185lbs, Manaea is rated as three stars by Rivals and the 12th best recruit in Washington. He's already taken visits to Colorado, Montana and will visit Idaho this weekend. Nevada and San Jose State have also offered. Highlights after available after the jump.
He plays wide receiver and safety but I personally would love to see him in the secondary for the Cowboys. He is very aggressive at stopping the run as well as pass coverage. He has a strong and intimidating presence while playing safety. I love his aggressiveness and hard hitting ability.

Good Player
He would be really solid for our secondary, we are pretty set at the strong safety position though. Could you see him playing where anderson is playing that linebacker/strong safety mix. Or challenging for the free safety spot?
Another Player to Look up
Wyoming would do well to recruit out of utah a little bit. One guy who is really under the radar is Brian Scott full back/ middle linebacker out of Hurricane Utah. He is 6’1 220-230 he racked up 31 touchdowns and over 1500 yards rushing. He had limited playing time at middle linebacker but that is where I would project him he is a strong physical player.
Really glad to have another recruiting addict on the site now.
Wyoming tried to recruit out of Utah when Christensen first arrived. They signed a WR named Alo Moli who went on a two year mission and then never signed. They also had a DT recruit named Bill Vavau who ended up going to Snow College and just signed with Utah State. Utah produces some nice recruits but Utah and BYU will always grab the top ones. I feel there is also some bias in Utah against Wyoming and lots of athletes won’t even consider the Cowboys because of that.
As for Scott I looked him up and liked what I saw. It didn’t seem like the recruiting services or schools that him listed or info on schools offering him. Certainly think he should be playing D1 football somewhere.

Very True
That is true there is that bias here I always try to point guys to Wyo who aren’t being recruited by Utah or BYU. Utah st does a good job mopping up who ever they don’t sign. A big area that all three haven’t hit very hard is southern utah.
