Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE
The season finale for the Cowboys. Can they give the Aztecs some bruises as a final parting shot?
After eleven games we have reached the end. After Saturday there will be no more Wyoming football games for another nine months. The Cowboys have won three straight and will now face a much tougher opponent in the San Diego State Aztecs.
Here is a quick update in the Pick Em' standings. Right this is buckeyeman11's contest to lose.

Here is the trailer for Thankskilling, one of the best terrible movies ever made. There really is a lack of quality Turkey Day films.

SCORE: Wyoming 31 SDSU 28
The Cowboys finish with a four game winning streak thanks to offense and inspired play by the senior class playing the last game at War Memorial Stadium. At the start of the season, I had one game I circled as a guaranteed UW win and it was this game versus the Aztecs, because SDSU coming to Laramie in mid-november can be tough sledding. Since then, the Aztecs have made themselves a candidate for winning the league and will have plenty to play for on Saturday with a chance to win or share part of a league championship.

Poke Pick: Brett Smith
This game is going to be an Old West Style Shootout and the team that can score the latest part of the 4th quarter will get the win. Wyoming head coach Dave Christensen made it a point to win the last four games and he is 3-0 with one game to go. This will be a game that Christensen has to put together a game plan for all four quarters and his coordinators will have to call a complete game and not two separate halves. The Wyoming offense has proven it can put points on the board but the defense is still suspect at best. With San Diego State in the hunt for a division title you better believe they will bring their A game. This will lead to a shootout and a shootout has proven to play right into Brett Smith's hands and that will be the difference. Look for Smith to pass for close to 500 yards and that will just be to much for the Aztecs to handle. Christensen will win the last four but that will leave the question, will DC be back in 2013 or did he burn to many bridges after the Air Force game?

My Poke Pick for this week is going to be Brett Smith. He's going to turn it up in the final game of the season for the Pokes and send the seniors out with a W. I think we're going to see a very potent UW offense take it to SDSU in a scoring derby. This would be a great game to open up the offense and just try to score more points than the other game.. not much need to even bother with trying to force the run game.. just let Brett be Brett and let him do his thing. The Smith to Herron connection has been terrific this season. Chris McNeill has played his last game as a Cowboy and he'll be out with an injury this week. This means the other WRs need to step it up this week in his absence. Last week Smith and the offense exploded for 28 points and 300+ yards passing in the first half. Imagine what'd happen if we did that for an entire game. Sky's the limit and we should be able to outscore the Aztecs.
This is supposedly San Diego State's last game in the MW before they head to the Big East. The Aztecs are in need of a good beating Cowboy style before they take their football team to play some 11am start times to play UConn, or their basketball team to join a bus league with 1 bid. If you ask me the SDSU AD made a really short sighted decision which now looks like it may come back and bite them in the backside. College football realignment seems to be never ending and schools do a lot of really dumb things in the name of money that may or may not be there. On that note I think it's time the Pokes send these clowns out in style. It would be terrific for the Cowboys to spoil SDSUs chance at a shot at the MW title, as well as out of the MW with a loss. I think we're going to see a big game from our defensive seniors, as well as Smith. I think a reasonable final score would look like Cowboys 45, SDSU 31.

Poke Pick: Mike Purcell
Purcell will need to help the Pokes dominate the line of scrimmage and stop the Aztecs running attack.
Wyoming has won three straight games but that has also came against three of the four worst teams in the Mountain West. The Aztecs are one of the top three teams in the league in scoring offense and defense. It won't be as easy for Brett Smith to pick apart the secondary as he has recently. Leon McFadden is one of the top cornerbacks in the country. Chris McNeill is already out, this will make the passing game tougher for Wyoming. Dominic Rufran, Robert Herron and Jalen Claiborne will all need to step up this week. These three will also be auditioning for that #1 spot that will be available next year.
I think mentally the Cowboys are in a really good place right now. That will help make a difference when things get tough. In 2010 Wyoming lost to New Mexico, UNLV and San Diego State. This year they have reversed that trend by knocking off the Lobos and Rebels. They will finish off the Aztecs and end give them a nice parting gift.
The weather will be decent with a high in the 50's. That is good news for the fans and the Aztecs. I was hoping for a snow storm to take Cali out of their comfort zone.
