The Wyoming Cowboys (18-9,4-7) fought hard for 40 minutes against the #24 San Diego State Aztecs (21-6, 7-4) and the refs. That wasn't quite enough as the game went to overtime and with their roster depleted the Cowboys simply couldn't keep up. The final score ended up being 67-58 but it was 55 all at the end of regulation. If you read any Mountain West message boards you'll likely see several threads with fans complaining about the referees in the league. Things hadn't been terrible for the Cowboys up until Wednesday night. There several awful calls on Wyoming but the worst was likely a phantom fifth foul on Leonard Washington with only a couple minutes remaining.

The bench scoring of the Cowboys has been much maligned this season but not in this game. Without some fantastic contributions off the bench from Arthur Bouedo and Larry Nance Jr. the Cowboys would not even have been in this game. Bouedo finished with a team best 11 points on four of five shooting. Nance added nine points and four rebounds. The big shooters for Wyoming struggled against the Aztecs. Pako Cruz and Luke Martinez combined for just 13 points. Martinez did hit a big three pointer late in the game to tie the game at 55 and eventually force overtime. Leonard Washington had a 9/5 night but was limited to just 15 minutes due to foul issues.

It was great to see the fight by the Cowboys in the second half. This was certainly the best they've played during their last four games. This loss will certainly sting for a couple days. Hopefully the teams regroups and gets ready to take down the Broncos this weekend.

Cowboy Joe: Arthur Bouedo stepped big time for the Pokes off the bench. If he can keep this productivity up over the next couple weeks the Cowboys could be mighty dangerous in Vegas during the conference tournament.

Cowboy Low: Foul trouble for Leonard Washington (again). It seems like every game Washington will pick up a quick couple fouls and then have to play conservatively when he's not sitting on the bench. If he can stay out of foul trouble he plays with much more freedom and aggressiveness.

Cowboy Foe: Garrett Green has an annoying haircut and he was 6 of 6 from the field. I would love the Cowboys take down "Sideshow Bob" and his crew in Vegas if they meet again.
