2012 SG Nathan Sobey (Cochise College) Commits To Wyoming

It has been awhile but we finally got some recuiting news to report. Coach Shyatt was able to add a talented junior college shooting guard in Nathan Sobey from Cochise College (AZ). Sobey is 6-3 (or 192 centimeters) and hails from Warnnambol, Australia. He will enroll this summer as junior with two years of eligibility remaining.

Sobey committed to Wyoming on Tuesday, his other choice was Weber State. He is going to finish up school in May and then head back to Australia for three and a half weeks. He will be with the Cowboys this summer as they play a summer tournament in Canada. Sobey helped the Cochise Apaches to the semi's of the NJCAA regional tournament. On the season he averaged 16.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists, and a team best 1.7 steals

This video is from 2010 when Sobey was back playing in Australia for the Warnnambol Seahawks. He certainly looks to be solid on both sides of the ball in this footage. His game has likely improved over these last two years, so he is even better now. Shyatt has shied away from junior college players but I think he certainly needed to add another veteran presence to help balance out the roster next year.

The Cowboys have two scholarships remaining for the 2012 class. Hopefully then can add some depth inside now.
