With the conclusion of spring practice the coaches have had some time to evaluate things and have released a new depth chart. Players who were injured this spring were put in to the depth chart at their correct slot. So even if some players didn't participate they in spring scrimmages they can still be starters. There wasn't a ton of shuffling but there were certainly some noted changes.

Check out the full depth chart if you like.

What didn't change? Well Brett Smith is still your starting quarterback, Blair Burns is your number one cornerback and Nick Carlson is starting at center.

The biggest difference on this depth is that a nickel back position was added. Andrew Meredith was named the starter there with Luke Anderson listed as the backup. Meredith had a strong spring while Anderson was limited for most of the drills. Both should play next year. This position is very important for the defense that Tormey runs and it's multiple formations. Hopefully they aren't forced to listen to "How You Remind Me" when playing this spot.

There was plenty of shuffling at the linebacker positions.

Oliver Schober is your starting MIKE linebacker and Devyn Harris was moved from outside linebacker to the #2 MIKE position. J.J. Quinlan had an outstanding spring at MLB but is listed as #3 on the depth chart. The depth at that position is incredible and hopefully all three will play this year.

After redshirting as a freshmen Zack Berg is now your starting SAM linebacker with Ghaali Muhammad listed as your backup. Muhammad was limited this spring but you can't take anything from Berg and the great plays he made this spring. Korey Jones will play opposite Berg at the WILL position with Alex Borgs as the backup.

Luke Ruff is starting at free safety with Kenny Browder behind him. Mark Nzeocha is starting on strong safety with Chad Reese as the backup.

Let's take a look at things for the offense.

Brandon Miller is the starting running back followed by Kody Sutton and then Nehemie Kankolongo who missed spring drills. If Kankolongo can be healthy by August then I like this group, he is the most similar back to Alvester Alexander and adds another dimension to the run game.

The starting wide receivers are Dominic Rufran, Robert Herron, Chris McNeill and Trey Norman. The backups are Eric Nzeocha, James Carway, Spencer Bruce and Josh Smith.

Daniel Fleischman stays your starter and right tackle with Kyle Magnuson listed as second. Zach Rushing is the new starting right guard. Travis Bogard was moved from right guard to center where he will backup Nick Carlson.

No changes in special teams. Daniel Sullivan is handling all field goals and kickoffs while Tim Gleeson punts.

Right now students are finishing up finals this week. Football players will head home for most of May and then return for summer conditioning in June and July. Fall camp starts on Sunday, August 5th and the first practice is scheduled for the 6th.
