Wyoming fans have been wishing, and hoping, and thinking and praying for some news on the TV broadcast front. Well the good news is that we finally have some more games that are going to be broadcast. The bad news is that there are only four additional games.
Root Sports was able to pick up 10 Mountain West games, including three involving the Pokes. Here are the Cowboy games that were announced today:
- October 13th - Wyoming vs Air Force
- October 20th - Wyoming at Fresno State
- November 24th - Wyoming vs San Diego State
Colorado State announced their television partnership with KTVD in Denver today. Included with the announcement is the Border War which will be shown on KTVD. Root Sports was unable to pick up that game since they had a preexisting contract with Big Sky and are showing two games already that day.
The road game with Idaho on September 22nd will be available on ESPN3. When you add in the Texas (Longhorn Network) and Boise State (CBS Sports) games, Wyoming will now have seven games that will broadcast on TV or online.
Disappointed that the Nevada game on October 6th hasn't been picked up yet. That matchup will have huge conference implications. Perhaps Nevada is working on their own deal with a local network. They weren't involved with any of the games that were part of the Root announcement.
Roots Sports is available across most of the Western UJnited States on cable. It is also available nationally on DirecTV and Dish Network. All of their live event broadcasts are shown in HD. It actually has a greater footprint then the Mtn. I feel confident that they will do a quality job with the broadcasts. Only wish that more games had been picked up. Due to the late loss of the Mtn it really made it tough to find a partner with enough time slots available for so many football games.
Here is the full slate of Mountain West games that will be shown on Root Sports.
