Last year we had a contest where this group predicted the winners of every Mountain West game. Now we've opened it up to all Mountain West fans. Just follow the link to join our Yahoo Pick Em Group.

GROUP#: 12190

Then you can show us smart you really are!

The Mountain West faces an uphill battle with plenty of games against BCS opponents in week one. UNLV hosts Minnesota on Thursday and Boise travel to Michigan State on Friday night. Nevada vs Cal, Colorado State vs CU, Hawaii at USC and San Diego State at Washington all take place on Saturday. There is a very real chance that the Mountain West starts off the the year with a sub .500 record. Can't remember the last time that happened.

We're going with a simpler version of our weekly predictions. Our crew is going to just going to predict the Wyoming score and also their Poke Pick for the game. They are also taking part in the Pick Em group.

Pokes Pick - Who will step up or have a big game for Wyoming?

Since the defense has been the talk of fall camp and I see the Cowboys defense playing relatively well on Saturday versus Texas, I'll choose CB Blair Burns. He's from Texas and he picks up a couple of big turnovers for UW.

Score - Predict the score for the Wyoming game each week?

Texas 31 Wyoming 20 - Cowboys keep this game close and lead some of the way before Texas pulls away.

Pokes Pick: Brett Smith.. the guy is going to carry us against Texas. We need a big game from him on the ground and through the air to set the tempo for the Cowboy offense. If Smith has a bad game, so will the Cowboy offense. In this case, I think he sets the tone and the Cowboy offense follows right behind him.

Wyoming 27, Texas 24

Pokes Pick: Luke Ruff

Texas 28, Wyoming 19

(Editors Note: Not sure how Wyoming will end up with 19 points)

Pokes Pick: Zack Berg has been on a tear for all of 2012. I think he'll have have some big tackles and an interception for the Cowboys.

I think the Cowboys will be a much tougher opponent this time around. Still they face an uphill battle in facing the Longhorns on their home field. The defense has looked greatly improved this fall, but until they do it in a game that counts the run game will be a huge weakness.

Texas 27 Wyoming 21
