The Cowboys have long tradition of having a family atmosphere on the team. Often times younger brothers will follow their old sibling when they choose a school. That has been the case with the Bramlets, Gipsons, Nzeochas and now the Muhammads.
LB Malkaam Muhammad committed to Wyoming this week and he is of course the younger brother of Ghaali. Malkaam is currently a redshirt sophomore at Iowa Western CC. He played last year and is redshirting this year. When he signs with Wyoming he will have three years of eligibility remaining. Malkaam was originally part of the Cowboys 2010 recruiting class but he failed to qualify academically. He was able his grades in order at Iowa Western and fulfill his goal of becoming a Cowboy and continuing the family legacy.
Back in 2010 Muhammad was listed as 6-0 and 200lbs with a two star rating. He is currently listed at 6-0 225lbs, good to see him be able to pack on some weight during that time. He is also quick with a 4.56 time in the 40. Ghaali has always been favorite here on Cowboy Altitude and I think we'll see the same effort and attitude with his brother.
In 2011 Malkaam played in 10 games. He finished the year with 38 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and one sack. Malkaam's speed is what impresses me the most. He is able to close very quickly on the ball carrier or the receiver.
The Cowboys are now sitting at seven commitments for the 2013 class. That group includes two linebackers, defensive tackles, offensive linemen and one wide receiver.
