The Front Range is turning into a flood zone after several days of record rainfall. Most of the damage is occurring in Colorado but it is certainly having an effect in Wyoming as well. On Friday numerous roads were closed including I-25 South of Cheyenne.
The only football casualty was the Colorado vs Fresno State that was postponed due to the heavy rains that pounded Boulder. That could have a big effect on the Bulldogs who are aiming for a Mountain West title and perhaps a shot at a BCS bowl. Only playing 11 games could have an adverse effect on the Bulldogs chances of landing in a bigger bowl. The only open date for both teams is December 7th which is also happens to be the date of the first Mountain West Championship game. There is a possibility of a couple games being swapped to allow this game to be made up earlier. That would be hard to do and require a lot of cooperation.
Luckily for Wyoming the game with Northern Colorado was played as scheduled. There were several changes to the pregame activities that the school was forced to make.
The "Wild Bunch" Student Tailgate will be moved from the area just south of War Memorial Stadium to the Indoor Practice Facility for this Saturday. The Student Tailgate will take place from Noon to 1:45 p.m. All UW students are invited to the "Wild Bunch" tailgate.
"Fan Fest 2013" a celebration for University of Wyoming fans of all ages will take place as scheduled in Wyoming's Indoor Practice Facility, and will run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It is free to the public. Student-athletes from all of UW's sports teams will be in attendance at the "Fan Fest" to sign autographs, and the Cowboy and Cowgirl student-athletes will also be involved in other activities and games for fans. Included among the activities will be: bobbing for apples, a golf range, soccer skills competition, an obstacle course and basketball shooting and dribbling stations. In addition, face painting and giant inflatables for children to play on will be available.
The Annual Ag Day barbecue has been rescheduled to take place prior to the Wyoming-Colorado State game on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation has postponed their canned food drive. They will now conduct their food drive prior to the Oct. 12 Homecoming game versus New Mexico.
Colorado State and Cal Poly were also able to play their game as scheduled. Air Force was luckily away in Boise for their Friday night game against the Broncos.
Hope the rains recede and everyone is safe across the Front Range.
