Football Verbals Continue To Roll In For The Cowboys

Troy Babbitt-USA TODAY Sports

The Wyoming Cowboys continue their hot football commitment spree.

After having every known visitor last weekend verbal (two had come into the weekend already verballed) but one, this weekend is following much the same path so far. The Cowboys are now up to 20 known football commits, with eight coming this weekend.  I will update this list if we learn of more verbals but in the mean time here are the new known commits.

6'2", 210-pound runningback Brian Hill out of Belleville (West) Illinois visited the Cowboys last weekend (1/17) and visited Northern Illinois this weekend.  The Wyoming staff is looking at Hill as a running back while the Northern Illinois staff was looking at him as a linebacker.  After his NIU visit, Hill decided on the Cowboys.  He picked Wyoming over Northern Illinois, Indiana State, Eastern Michigan, North Dakota State, Georgia State, etc. Hudl Highlights

To start off the commitments from this weekends visitors is 6'4", 265-pound defensive end John Jackson Jr. out of Oro Valley (Canyon del Oro) Arizona.  Jackson selected the Cowboys over New Mexico State and San Diego State.  Jackson had actually made his commitment to the staff Saturday night.  Hudl Highlights

Next to come on board is 6'0", 185-pound cornerback Ryon'e Winters out of Grandview (Grandview) Missouri.  Winters was originally a North Dakota State soft verbal after committing there last weekend.  Luckily for the Cowboys they already had a visit date set-up and Winters still made it to Laramie.  By Saturday night, Winters was ready to make the flip to Brown and Gold.  Hudl Highlights

Brian Hill was not the only runningback to make a commitment to Wyoming this weekend.  5'9", 177-pound Nico Evans out of Los Angeles (Loyola) California committed to the Pokes over the Ivy League's Penn, but also had interest from Mountain West schools such as Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State and San Jose State.  Hudl Highlights

We also found our second high school quarterback in this recruiting class with 6'4", 215-pound Nick Smith out of Merritt Island (Merritt Island) Florida.  Coach Bohl and staff were looking for at least three quarterbacks in this class and it looks as if they have filled that need now.  Smith committed to Wyoming over Buffalo, Marshall and Florida International. A new name to this weekend is 6'5", 230-pound tight end Brinkley Jolly out of Liberty (North) Missouri.  Brinkley is the second known tight end commitment with Jacob Hollister out of Arizona Western CC already signed and on campus.  Brinkley selected Wyoming over D-II National Champions Northwest Missouri State and heavy interest from Iowa where he had visited.  Hudl Highlights

Wyoming has now landed their third tight end in 6'4", 220-pound Tyree Mayfield out of St. Joseph (Central) Missouri. Mayfield makes the second Missouri tight end to commit this weekend alone.  Wyoming was Mayfield's selection over Illinois State, North Dakota State, Toledo, etc.  Hudl Highlights

No sooner than the dust starts to settle, the Cowboys have landed their third tight end of the weekend and fourth overall.  6'5", 230-pound Grant Lewis out of Memphis (White Station) Tennessee has committed to the Cowboys.  Lewis is a late bloomer after playing wide receiver last season and having no film out on himself until this year.  Lewis picked Wyoming over offers from UT-Martin, Furman, Tennessee Tech and Bethel.  Hudl Highlights
