We've created a public Yahoo Bowl Pick Em and want to have as many people join as possible. The group ID is 18948 and please share it with as many people as you can.
Who knows what the Mountain West will look like in 2015 but we do at least know who will be on the Cowboys non-conference schedule. No release from the University of Wyoming yet but North Dakota has announced their future schedules and the Fighting Sioux are set to visit Laramie on September 5th, 2015. Other games that year include a visit from the Oregon Ducks and a road game with Utah State.
This stat comes from College Football by the Numbers who ranked every FBS team. Interesting enough they only gave Wyoming a 18% shot at earning seven wins. Though the Pokes need seven victories to become bowl eligible. This same site also predicts Wyoming losing 39-25 to Utah State.
The possible implosion of the Big 12 and Big East has kept Craig Thompson a very busy many lately. Depending on how things play out there may be a shot at the Mountain West adding some schools from either conference. Currently those two leagues may be looking at merger between all the remaining schools to try and resurrect themselves. Thompson has also been speaking with TCU often since their move to the Big East doesn't seem as bright now that Pitt and Syracuse just abandoned the league. He's not able to extend an invite at this time but likely would get authorization from school presidents if he asked. The talk of the Mountain West merging with Conference USA is again back on the table. It would be a football only merger where each conference champ plays each other for the title. Could be a big boost for television contracts and marketing. This is certainly a crazy time that we live in and anything could happen. I think the Mountain West is in a good situation right now and could certainly benefit by gaining some of the Big 12 members. It would be great to have TCU back in the Mountain West.
It is a rule that every player who transfers must visit UCF or Pitt. Gabbert certainly appears to still be considering Wyoming. He better decide soon as classes start on Monday in Laramie.
The polls are finally open for voting on what uniform combination Wyoming will wear for the home opener vs Weber State. After long deliberation I ended up voting for BROWN HELMET, GOLD TOP, BROWN PANTS. I'm not a huge fan of the brown pants but I think the combination goes well with the brown helmet and bright jersey to give it some pop. Anyone else have trouble with the verification tool? It gave some trouble but I finally got my vote in after several attempts.
Bill C. over at Football Study Hall and who also writes for the Mizzou site Rock M Nation is analyzing every FBS team. Today he did an intense analysis of the Cowboys 2010 season and what to expect in 2011. Make sure you read the footnotes and primers on his grading system to get the most of those graphs and charts. Just three more days till fall camp starts!!!!
We had an old Facebook that page that wasn't sent up properly. So that one has been ditched and there is now a new one. Please click on the link above to go directly to the new page.
Husker Extra is put together by the Lincoln Journal Star and is doing a section entitled "Behind Enemy Lines". In each piece they examine one of the top players for one of the Huskers 2011 opponents. DE Josh Biezuns is profiled in this latest edition. It is always interesting to see what other schools say about our players.
