The Wyoming Cowboys appear to be untapping the hidden football talent out of Deutschland. For the second year the Pokes have gone way across the pond in order to build the program. Mark Nzeocha a safety who plays for the Franken Knights/Team Germany commited to Wyomingafter visiting over the weekend. The Team Germany uniforms are pretty sweet with the national crest on there.
Coach Christensen and his staff are willing to recruit from across the globe. This is a similar strategy to what Boise State has done, the Broncos have a number of recruits from Canada and the Netherlands. Last year the Cowboys signed one player from Germany, Canada and American Samoa.
It appears that Nzeocha is quite the physical speciman at 6'2 215lbs with a 4.48 time in the 40 yard dash. He has a couple of highlight videos posted, check out the live game footage as well as well as his skills video. According to Robert Gagliardi Nzeochia is 20 years old and will be enrolling this January. This would give him four years of eligibilty once he arrives.
You can play a club sport elsewhere but for every year you play the sport after you turn 22 you lose a year of eligiblity. So the Cowboys current German player LB Oliver Schober who is 24 has just two years of eligiblity. He is the current kick off specialist and backup MLB behind Brian Hendricks. Scober and Nzeocha are friends and I'm sure that Schober was a big influence in signing.
There is no current rating for Nzeocha by any recruiting service but they should rate him once they get a hold of his footage. Last year Schober was deemed a two star recruit and Nzeocha will probably earn the same ranking due to being such an unknown commodity.
This now gives the Cowboys six recruits on the year. Last Friday three star QB Cole Stoudt verbally commited to the Pokes. The positions of the current commits are: QB, WR, LB, DB, S and ATH. Fans are anxious for some news on an offense or defensive linemen signing.
