A 3-4 record this week for the Mountain West that had two conference games and two teams resting their feet this week.  Some teams continued to sink while others showed some fight.  Let's break it all down for you do.

Air Force:  If you like options then the Air Force - Navy game is your dream with both teams running the triple option.  Each team is almost a mirror image of the other.  Well the Bolts did change some history this weekend with their 14-6 victory over the Midshipmen which broke their seven game losing streak in the series.  Perhaps the fancy "Thunderbird" uniforms did the trick.  Either way the Falcons finally have a shot at the Commander in Chief trophy if they can take care of business against Army.

BYU:The Cougars were the brunt of a ton of jokes on Friday night after their 31-16 loss at Utah State.  It was the Aggies first victory over their instate rival since 1993 and they celebrated like it was 1999.  In order to satisfy the angry mob Bronco Mendenhall fired Defensive coordinator Jaime Hill.  Perhaps the WR Coach should have also gotten the axe, no one could catch a Jake Heaps pass except for the Aggie secondary.  The Cougars are off to their worst start since 1973.  And all is right in the world...

Colorado State:  And it's back to reality for the Rams who had their one game winning streak snapped by TCU.  Can you have a streak of one? Oh well at least they beat a WAC team.  CSU hung tough in this game and were only down 6-0 at the half.  Unfortunately the Horned Frogs seem to turn up the juices in the second and shutout the Rams 27-0.  CSU was outgained 161 to 474.

New Mexico:  The Lobos actually had the lead in this game for 84 seconds that deserves a round of applause right there.  It's all about baby steps and positive feedback for New Mexico and Mike Locksley.  Despite that lead the Miners from UTEP could not be held down in the Salsa Bowl and took the victory 38-20.  If you are a fan of train wrecks and misery then be sure to tune in next week when New Mexico faces off against their hapless counterparts from Las Cruces.  Both teams are winless and the good news is that they only once a year so you only have to suffer once a year.

San Diego State:  Bye week for the Aztecs so what was their agenda?  Friday - Prepare for BYU watching them lose to Utah State.  Saturday - Gym Tan Laundry.  Sunday - Watch the Chargers play and see what Qualcomm Stadium looks like with a crowd inside.  Next week they hope to continue the suffering of BYU.

TCU:  Listen Horned Frogs whatever you're doing in the first half of games is not working.  You're still ranked in the top 5 but you're missing the style points in your victories.  You need put up 50+ points and use crazy plays to do so.. you need to embarrass your opponents.  But not this week against Wyoming, take it easy on the Cowboys.  Bring the pain in two weeks when you host BYU.  Thanks for listening.

UNLV:  Well the battle for the Fremont Cannon didn't turn out so well for the Rebels.  This is a nasty rivalry but there needs to be more to then just what school has a comma in their name.  With the 44-26 loss the Rebels are again the going to deal with a year full of insults from their neighbors to north.  Next time try and get your opponent to punt at least once, you may find it helpful.  Good luck against West Virgina next week.

Utah: Another team with a bye week here.  So what did the Utes do with their weekend?  Friday - Watch BYU and make fun of BYU.  Saturday - Make films for YouTube that make fun of the Cougars.  Sunday - Send Utah State some flowers and a nice note plus game plan for Iowa State.

Future members of the Mountain West

Boise State:  You only won 59-0 over New Mexico State? Only 609 yards on offense?  Kellen Moore played with an eyepatch and played the tambourine while throwing for three touchdowns.  Please Broncos not impressive.  Sorry you move down a spot in the rankings because...... well just because.

Fresno State:  Still mad that you lost to Mississippi last week.  Way to redeem yourself against Cal Poly 38-17.    Next week the Hawaii Warriors come to town.  From tropical paradise to Fresno, what a terrible weekend for the Warriors.

Nevada: So you won the cannon and it is already painted blue.  Do you repaint it again or leave it blue?  I say it is time you get some rims on that bad boy, deck it out. Now up to #21 in the polls, congrats on that.  Please don't make San Jose State feel too bad next week.  They just lost to UC Davis.
