Time to switch things up with a little Cowboy hoops news. Coach Schroyer and his staff are fairly secretive with their recruiting process so anytime you hear about a recruit visiting campus it is newsworthy. Basketball season is just around the corner so time to pull out the tear away pants.
According to the Indianapolis Star Michael Ramey a 6-4 Shooting Guard out of Southport HS will be visiting Wyoming on October 16th. Ramey is still a junior so he wouldn't attending college until the 2012 season.
Southport junior Mike Ramey took a trip to the East Coast last weekend, visiting Fordham, St. Joseph's and William & Mary. The 6-4 shooting guard will also visit Wyoming on Oct. 16 but doesn't plan to make a decision until after the season.
With an offer already in hand from Wyoming the other schools with offers for Ramey's services are: Eastern Kentucky, Fordham, Gardner-Webb, IPFW, Morehead State and St. Josephs.
According to the article Ramey is looking at schools where can play early. The Pokes currently have a glut of wingmen but a number of them are Juniors. So by 2012 there could be some available minutes for Ramey if he chooses Laramie.
There isn't much info on his high school career so far but here is a highlight video from an AAU game last spring as well as some analysis on Ramey. Seems like he has a nice shooting stroke and plenty of time to improve his size and strength even more.
