Cowboys add two more Lone Star commits

All of a sudden Wyoming has 19 verbal commitments for 2011 football class.  On Monday two athletes from Texas decided to become Pokes after visiting Laramie.  Coach Christensen and his staff have done a great job of getting athletes to commit after visiting and seeing first hand what they are trying to build.

The two commits are three star reciever Josh Doctson (6-3 185) out of Mansfield, TX and two star CB Blair Burns (5-9 155) hailing from Plano, TX.  This give the Pokes now seven future players that currently attend school in Texas.  Wyoming only had four total recruits from Texas in the first two classes under Christensen combined.  It's impressive how they've created such deep in roads in the talent rich state so quickly.

Glad to have another WR on board and it seems like highly rated Doctson fell through the cracks perhaps because his team finished 1-8 this year.  On the year he finished with 35 catches for 558 yards.  It appears as if Wyoming was the only school to offer him a scholarship.  Seems like he is also quite the basketball player as well.  Maybe Heath Schroyer will try and borrow him during the winter.  He also named the First Team Offense All Distrcit Team.

Blair Burns is a speedster who handled kickoff duties as well as playing tough defense.  Don't let his size fool you - the reports say this kid is a gamer and isn't afraid of contact.  He orginally commited to Louisiana-Monroe this summer then decided this week that Wyoming was the place for him.  I wasn't able to find any game footage on Doctson or Burns which amazing but disappointing.  Would love to see what they both look like in action.

It's pretty exciting that Wyoming nearly has twenty recruits already set for this year.  I would expect at least one more commitment here before 2011 strikes.  It'll be nice to see the staff have a couple weeks in January to tie things down and complete the 25 member class.  Look for the remaining slots to be used for three offensive linemen and hopefully another defensive linemen or two.
