Final Preparations for Southern Utah

Well College football season has officially started!  The Utah Utes knocked off Pittsburgh in OT in a bittersweet victory for Mountain West fans.  This came down to the very last second and Coach Whittingham got a little too aggressive with his timeouts.  Also USC and Hawaii decided they were going to wait till next week before they start tackling anyone in the Trojan win that had a combined 85 points.

If you're not sure what games to watch this weekend then check out College Football Buffet by Sean Keeley who ranks all the televised games in order of appeal.

On to business here.. the Pokes are ready to start the season and Cowboy Altitude is here to help you enjoy the whole day.  Tomorrow we'll have a Game Day Thread going where you can stop and post some comments on the Cowboys or any other games that are happening.  The Mountain West has plenty of interesting match ups so  it should be an exciting first week.  All comments update in real time so there is no need to ever refresh your browser.

Hope to chat with you on game day!

Here a few interesting Wyoming links and video preview from Eric Schmoldt of the Casper Star Tribune to help you prepare:

  • Wyoming receives the largest gift in school history from local artist.  Not sports related but great news for the University.
  • Expect traffic delays when heading into Laramie for the game.  Roadwork is occurring on both sides of I-80.  Just arrive early for the tailgating and you will be fine!
  • For Wyoming depth and youth are synonymous.  Coach Christensen is happy with his #1 offense and defense but anyone coming off the bench is still pretty green.
  • Austyn Carta-Samuels looks to avoid the sophomore jinx after earning MWC Freshman of the Year honors.
