Shyatt era begins with F Tyrone Marshall Signing Letter of Intent

Marshall (24) loves to block shots

The answer to the trivia question: "Who was the first recruit to sign with Wyoming when Larry Shyatt returned?"  And the answer is F Tyrone Marshall from George Washington High in Denver, CO.  The 6-8 220lb forward visited Wyoming over the weekend and liked what he heard from the coaching staff and signed a letter of intent today.

Marshall has a great build and still has some growing ahead of him.  He has a great wingspan and his defensive game is ahead of his scoring ability.  His senior year he averaged 15 points, 9 rebounds, and six blocks.  He had three triple double last season involving those three stats.  He could be a mix between the departed Amath M'Baye and Djbril Thiam with his size and athleticism.

ESPN ranks him a 77 in their grading scale and has this summary:

Marshall has an athletic-looking body and can leap like a jumping jack. Tyrone is a runner, jumper and finisher around the rim. He excels when he can sprint the floor rim to rim and catch the ball in a position where he does not have to make a move. Defensively, Tyrone uses his length and quick leaping ability to challenge shots in the lane and rebound the ball in traffic. He is going to have to improve his low post moves and shooting touch to become a more effective scorer.

Highlights of Marshall and thoughts from Shyatt after the jump.

"Tyrone has tomorrow written all over him in terms of his future basketball potential. He is going to be a very versatile forward in the future. He has a large frame and may not yet be done growing. Tyrone has good quickness and leaping ability, and if he becomes consumed with a strong work ethic could be a terrific, high-level basketball player for us" - Larry Shyatt
