Well the first day of the Mountain West Media Day is all wrapped up and things got crazier as the day went on. What started as a peaceful day turned into internet hysteria. Never a dull moment here with the Mountain West I guess.
The first big shock came out in the afternoon when it turns out Boise State is not allowed to wear their all blue uniforms for home conference games.
The prohibition applies only to Boise State and was part of the school’s agreement to join the league.
"I thought it was ridiculous," Petersen said of his reaction. "… That’s our colors. That’s who we are. That’s who our fans have wanted us to be since I’ve been at Boise State. That’s what it’s been through and through."
Said commissioner Craig Thompson: "What we had heard from our coaches is ‘a competitive advantage.’ It’s as simple as that."
Here is some interesting Wyoming news that occurred today:
- Apparently Larry Nance is going all around Cleveland sporting his Wyoming gear since his son is now a freshman on the basketball team. This writer used that as an excuse to write about how much he loves Wyoming and would love to come back eventually. I'm certainly down with that style of journalism.
- Former Poke CB Marcell Gipson took advantage of the lockout ending to sign a free agent deal with the Minnesota Vikings. Best of luck!!
- Tom Burman sent out a letter to fans detailing the budget for athletic department will grow this year from $25.1M to $25.7M. The eventual goal is to have 10,000 football season ticket holders, 5,000 CJC members and an annual budget of $30M.
