Cowboys Handle Boise State, Prepare For TCU On Senior Night

Wyoming was able to get back on the winning track against Boise State on Saturday 64-54. That snapped a four game losing streak for the Cowboys. With an overall record of 19-9 and 5-7 in Mountain West play the Cowboys still have two games remaining before the conference tournament starts. Leonard Washington had a nice bounce back game against Boise State with a 15/11 double double. Francisco Cruz finished with a team best 16 points as well as 6 rebounds and four assists. Pako has done a nice job distributing the ball recently.

Now the Cowboys will turn their attention to the Horned Frogs of TCU (17-11, 7-5) who have been turning heads lately. TCU are winners of four of five and coming off a 83-64 win over New Mexico. The Horned Frogs are incredibly tough at home this year as the Cowboys learned on February 1st. TCU is 13-2 overall and a perfect 6-0 for conference play while playing Fort Worth. Luckily this game is in Laramie and TCU has won only once on the road in conference play. This will also be the final home game for the group of six Wyoming seniors on the roster.

This six-pack of seniors has gone through a lot during their time in Wyoming. They've seen plenty of ups and downs and securing a 20th win in front a large home crowd would be a perfect send off. Afam Muojeke and Adam Waddell have both spent their entire careers in brown and gold. This will be the 121st game in Waddell's career at Wyoming. Unfortunately Muojeke had another knee surgery a few weeks past and he is done for the year. A great guy and leader of the team it's unfortunate that Muojeke was limited to 73 games over these past four years. He truly could have been a very special player if his knee held up. He still has a very bright future after basketball.

JayDee Luster, Arthur Bouedo, Francisco Cruz and Rob Watsabaugh all transferred to Wyoming over the last three years. Luster has become a defensive terror and fantastic ball handler this year. His game has improved immensely this year under Shyatt. Bouedo is the final link to StoneRidge Prep that Coach Schroyer relied on so heavily, Bouedo has been valuable coming off the bench this year at shooting guard. Pako Cruz has only spent two years in Laramie but they have been very productive. As a two starter Cruz has been very consistent and provided a nice outside shooting threat. After playing for the Mexican National team this summer he has been much more athletic this year. Rob Watsabaugh is a transfer walk-on that has provided quality minutes off the bench after being rarely used by the previous staff.

This would be a very nice quality win if the Cowboys can keep the Horned Frogs down. They'll need to stop 6-8 240lb Craig Williams who has found his knack lately from behind the arc. Williams is shooting 60% (15 of 25) on three pointers over a five game stretch. He had 13 points and 7 rebounds in the previous meeting. Depending on what happens in the Mountain West tournament this may be the final time these two meets play each other in basketball. Next year TCU is heading to the Big 12 where they will face the likes of Kansas and Baylor.
