The Wyoming Cowboys (17-4, (3-3) host the #11/13 UNLV Rebels (21-3,5-1) this weekend. There is a big push to make this the largest crowd of the season to date and eclipse 10,000 fans. The Cowboys had some of the wind taken out of their sails after a 58-52 loss to TCU on Wednesday. That doesn't mean the Cowboys are out of this game by any means. The Rebels have struggled on the road and barely beat Air Force and Boise State. A large rowdy crowd would certainly help the Pokes in their quest to up end the Rebels.
This game will also feature the likely leading candidates for Mountain West coach of the year in Dave Rice and Larry Shyatt. Both are in their first year of new jobs. For Rice this is his first head coaching job anywhere.
This will be a homecoming of sorts for former Wyoming coach Heath Schroyer who is now an assistant for UNLV. It will certainly be interesting to see how the fans greet him when he steps back in the AA for the first time. It may not be very gracious. Sounds like fans have been making plenty of signs for this game. Hope the weather doesn't it make hard for a big crowd to arrive.
